Prices in Monaco can make you dizzy, but you can find places with food for tourists who are on a budget. Where, in Monaco, can you find nice and tasty food without spending your entire budget? Luckily, I have 5 places I can recommended to you!

When visiting Monaco, it’s worth taking an hour to take a break and eat something tasty. The prices in Monaco are of course quite high and I mean primarily hotels and private rental properties, but also restaurants. However, there are places in the principality where you can eat a nice and tasty meal, but at the same time not ruin your budget.

5 recommended places to eat in Monaco:

  • L’Express, 22 Rue Comte Félix Gastaldi. Despite its name, it is not a fast food bar, but a nice restaurant under a tree just behind the cathedral. A perfect place for lunch during a break in visiting Monaco’s Old Town. They serve delicious fish (filleted before serving), risotto, and pasta with a friendly attitude and, of course, a view of the historic surroundings. Menu and prices can be checked at lexpressmonaco.com.
  • Foodhall, Place d’Armes. Coming down from the Monaco Rock (exit next to the Prince’s Palace), you come out at the city marketplace. Here, in a small hall you will find a cluster of restaurant stands, and lots of tables and chairs. The choice is really big and the food is delicious.
  • The Casino Supermarket on the port, 17 Boulevard Albert 1er. This large supermarket not only offers sandwiches and salad in boxes, but there is also really good sushi on the spot; along a bakery with its own baked goods, ideal for lunch; and pizza sold by the slice. You can stock up well here and, for example, take it across to the port opposite to eat overlooking the luxury yachts.
  • Cooks, 10 Boulevard Princesse Charlotte. This pleasant bistro is tiny and offers mainly take-away meals. There are however several seats if you want to eat in. The dishes are prepared earlier onsite, and the customers can chooses what they want from the counter (for example meat, vegetables, pasta, or pizza). Everything is fresh and tasty. Their website is cooksmonaco.com.
  • Huit & Demi, 4 Rue Langlé. Huit & Demi is a restaurant with local food. The prices are a bit high, but during the holidays you can surely afford it once. Here you can eat fresh meat dishes, pasta, fish, pizza etc. Website: huitetdemi.mc.

Food prices in Monaco

When writing about food in the region, I always mention that the cheapest breakfast and lunches can be had at any bakery. Every boulangerie serves both hot and cold dishes, and lunch will cost you between €6.50 and €9.

Food in the places described above, of course, costs more. With the exception of the Casino store you will pay from about €12 up to even €30 per person. Of course, depending on what you ordered.
