Finding cheap hotels in Monaco is not such an easy matter. So I have researched all the possibilities and found where you can sleep in Monaco and whether it can be done cheaply without spending a fortune on the Hotel de Paris or the Hotel Hermitage.
It’s not easy to find cheap hotels in Monaco. The principality is mainly inhabited by well-off residents and rich tourists – the rest visit Monaco during the day but live in nearby Nice or other towns. Tourists on even smaller budgets even stay in Italy. Everyone leaves the principality delighted however, because Monaco’s attractions have something to satisfy everyone’s tastes. But, if you want to stay in Monaco for a few days and get a feeling for the exclusive atmosphere of the principality – check out the cheapest and most recommended hotels in Monaco!
What are the best hotels in Monaco?
There are mostly luxury hotels to be found in Monaco. These include, for example, the Hotel de Paris, which stands next to the casino; or just 100 meters away, the Hotel Hermitage. There is also the Metropole Monte-Carlo and the Fairmont, which overlook a well-known and very sharp turn in the Monaco F1 race. Closer to the French border is the Monte-Carlo Bay Hotel and Resort. They all offer accommodation in the prestigious Monte Carlo district.
To this list of Monaco’s expensive and well-known hotels I would also add Port Palace with its view of Port Hercules, and Le Meridien Beach Plaza right on Larvotto beach. I managed to find accommodation in both these facilities for one night at prices ranging from €168 to €461, including promotional deals and booking a minimum of 3 months in advance. So you must admit – it’s not cheap. It is worth adding, however, that the promotional price at the Le Meridien Beach Plaza was reduced by as much as 30%, and this is a 4 star hotel.
So how do you find cheap hotels in Monaco if you absolutely must sleep in the principality instead of commuting from Nice or Menton?
Cheap hotels in Monaco for budget tourists
There are several places that may interest you, but remember that the average price per night will be much higher than, for example, in Nice. The first of these is the Apartments Monaco, which is located next to the French town of Beausoleil. You can choose from a small studio with a view of the sea, a two-bedroom apartment, or one with three bedrooms. It is not a hotel, but rather private apartments converted into tourist facilities. The price per night start from €98. There are many such offers on the Cote d’Azur.
The second location is a 2 star hotel situated in the very center of Monaco – Hotel de France. Its location is perfect – almost at the foot of the hill of the Old Town, next to the square with the market, and just 5 minutes walk from the port. The hotel is right next to the railway station (though the trains can’t be heard because they pass underground). The cheapest accommodation I found here was for €115 per night. Only 100 meters from this property is another hotel that you should consider for a night in Monaco. This is the Hotel Ambassador-Monaco. This property has 3 stars, and the cheapest accommodation I found here was for €130 per night.
Finally, I suggest you check the Hotel Columbus Monte Carlo. Despite the name, it is in the Fontvieille district, but it is a very nice area. It is a 3 stars hotel with a private pool. Prices per night start from €160 with promotion, so it is not the cheapest. However, this is a hotel with a good standard, and many rich people live in the neighborhood ;-).
Remember that these prices may change over time, and note that the above article is not a commercial offer.
